Perry Mason says it’s a hoax. On an episode 50+ years ago a guy on trial tried to prove his innocence by showing a photo of himself taken by a hidden camera in the woods. Perry Mason pointed out that the guy was looking right at the camera when the photo was taken - something that wouldn’t have happened had it really been an unposed photo. Same problem here.
Columbo had a similar show. The perp pasted a 2D picture on his face and ran a red light with a camera.
Columbo caught him because there was no shadow on the nose. Lol
If it is a true picture and the thing ruined the camera it would seem that it spotted it and for some reason angrily broke it. It may have stared at it a bit before destroying it. In that case it must of had some kind of mental ability to be suspicious of it in order to want to destroy it.
