Angelina Jolie?! Marc Antony must be rolling over in whatever grave he’s in.

Cleopatra was a genuis of Greek descent and was not particularly beautiful. But she must have had charm as well as genuis for snaring so many powerful guys, lol!

I love reading about ancient history even some of the fictional books that are rich with historical fact but I try to steer clear of blatant agendas of the authors.

Tina Brown and MoDowd are drooling over this book, the first red flag

But this line in the review clinched it for me: Schiff gives us her version of the Queen

I will skip this one.

For you history greats….Cleo had a child by Julius Caesar. I never read a follow up on this baby.

Anybody?

Thank you.

Lets face it—or rather Caesar and Antony faced it—most coins and statues that are struck in honor of rulers show their best features.

If that’s true about Cleo, then you’d have to look elsewhere than her beauty to account for her popularity with her much older lovers. (Caesar in his 50s and she about 19 when they consumated their relationship).

Rumors in Rome were that she was very adept in exotic foreign sexual practices, most of which will get you arrested in Southern states, to snare them.

From looking at the images of Cleo, it’s also possible that Helen Thomas is a direct descendant.

Margaret George's Memoirs of Cleopatra is still the best book about the Egyptian queen.
