Regarding the FBI’s desire for a backdoor into Apple, we need to think longterm. If US products have deliberate backdoors, foreign products will become more popular.
Apple itself might relocate to Panama for example. Last I heard, Panama puts a premium on privacy rights. Then we lose out bigtime.
Apple could be sold in the underground economy. And then where will we be?

Yes, counter-terror needs rapid access. So how can both sides win? Apple could form a branch that checks for itself voluntarily. Could be planned in secret for all I care.

Many people let their health erode incrementally. Scalia might have subconsciously rebelled against ‘health nags’. As for him being so alone, I could speculate why, and that could be one reason why his family wants ‘a lid on it’.
Regardless, an autopsy won’t find signs of artificially induced heart attacks. It would solve nothing. Same with Breitbart. I remain suspicious of his death. As well as McDougle [Whitewater.]
We need better ways of checking for certain chemicals inside the body in a timely manner. An Apple Watch is the first step in that direction. Creepy, but there we are.

AFAIK PGP is still available and uncrackable as well as other privately applied encryption programs so it seems to me that blaming Apple is a bit selective. I don’t know if PGP can be used on smart phones but there must be some user-selected encryption for them. It just seems like a fact of life to me that these devices can be permanently locked from any access.
