I hate this about our country... Rewarding people for doing nothing.
This will come back and haunt Sarah. Mark my words.

I hope success does not spoil a lovely young lady like Bristol.

It has happened so many times before. They all start out naive and starry-eyed...from Judy Garland right on down to Brittany Spears. Often, the ending is not pretty.

I’m sure that Sarah Palin has lawyers to give good advice about any show biz contracts entered into.

Hildy, if you’re anywhere near as old as I am, you’ll remember when the studios in Hollywood looked for nothing more than a beautiful face. Talent was secondary.

Not much has changed since then with regard to young women and their dreams of stardom. I hope that Bristol will avoid the casting couch.

Rewarding people for doing nothing.

You assume that Bristol, coming from a family that values indepedence and hard work, would have amounted to nothing if her Mom wasn't famous?

You don't know what she would have done. But I assure you she wouldn't be broke or running in the streets.

This is America and people can make their own choices. I wish her all the best.

I love this country, where the government doesn't determine who gets rewarded.

Yep. What I find particularly despicable is how if an unwed mother sees an upswing of an economic situation, she still gets her child support payments. Bristol could very well become a millionaire and still hold out her hand for child support payments.

What this tells me is that the Palin stance of ‘rugged individualism’ or ‘conservatism’ is actually a charade. It tells me that the Palin stance is actually ‘grrrrrrl power’.

If you want to understand slavery in America, talk to a divorced man with kids or a man who has a child out of wedlock. The transfer of money from man to woman under the guise of ‘child support’ has no oversight and even if the woman becomes wealthy, she still gets the money. There is a reason why Obama made child support a signature issue of his (very brief) Senate career. It fits the distribution of wealth he loves.

In his famous essay on the Ruling Class, Codevilla also mentions this issue.

If women actually had to marry men in order to get access to their money, you would immediately see a dramatic decline in premarital sex, in shack-ups, and such “relationships”. I find this to be the most pressing issue in America today because of how it destroys the family.

Anyone cheering Bristol in this should also cheer Levi when he makes money. After all, both Bristol and Levi are making money based on no achievement. Perhaps Bristol and Levi have more in common than we imagined.
