I think their real fear is that some kid might draw a picture of a gun.
Or even thinking the word “gun” would get the kid in trouble.
Some of this political correctness crap started showing up in schools and college campuses in the seventies. It created a stifling environment where I always felt that I was in a minefield, and some idjit would get offended at the slightest word. Even showing some measure of intelligence or initiative was extremely risky.
In Annapolis MD last year a male sixth grader drew a gun on a piece of paper, aimed it at another kid on the school bus and said “bang!” The kid was suspended. Bizarro world! Thank God he didn’t draw a mushroom cloud or a speck of anthrax.
