I asked my son about recoil after I was shooting my S&W .40 at the range and then fired his short barrel Glock .45, which I did much better with. He went to the internet and showed me the graphs. May have to trade.
I don’t know why everyone says that the recoil on a .45 is so bad. It is quite mild.
It may be that people who spend time with a .45 love them and people who haven’t shot them opine on them without shooting them keep talking about the non-existent recoil.
Sort of like Hi-point pistols. Those who own them love them, those who don’t own them “wouldn’t use them for a paper weight”.
