Was trying to stop victim from beating a Russian woman

A Palestinian allegedly beat an Emirati causing his death while trying to stop him from beating a Russian woman, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On March 12, 2009, the accused IAG, 40, went to Al Muraqqabat Plaza hotel accompanied with the victim Ghanem Sultan Ahmad, 28, with two women: a 22-year-old a jobless Russian woman Larisa Shirnova and a 38-year-old Uzbek Guanara Savina.

A misunderstanding occurred between the victim and the Russian woman. The Uzbek left the room after she was abused by the victim because she intervened, Guanara testified before the prosecution.

The three went to a bar and consumed alcohol and left by 2.30pm using the victim’s car. The victim was very drunk and lay in the back seat. The accused drove the car and the Russian women sitting next to him, Larisa testified before the prosecution.

When they reached a sandy area in Al Ghusais, IAG asked her to search for his car’s key. “While I was searching, the victim beat me and pulled my hair, snatched my bag which I could take back from him and continued searching for the key,” she told the prosecutors.

As the victim who was drunk and very aggressive pulled her hair again, IAG intervened and held his hands to his back to stop him but the two fell on the ground and started punching one another and she continued search for the key, she testified.

She intervened when she saw IAG holding a stone tending to beat the victim with it. IAG controlled the victim's legs by sitting on him punched him several times on his face.

“When I saw the victim was bleeding from his nose and mouth I tried to calm them down and actually the two went to the victim’s car. As I found the key, the accused asked me to take his stuff to his car and the fight started again between the two. I pulled the accused to his car and drove to a hotel in Ajman and the victim drove before us,” she testified.

The victim Ghaned Sultan Ahmad went home at midnight and was seen by his sister and mother not wearing his ‘dishdasha’ which was on his shoulder. There was blood on his face, ears and legs. When asked about the cause, he told them that he fell from a bike and left for his room, the victim’s brother Omar, 40, manager testified before the prosecution.

The mother and sister tried to take him to the hospital but he refused and asked them to leave him alone.

Next day, Omar called his parent’s home and his sister told him that his brother was spitting blood and breathing with difficulty and refusing to go to the hospital.

On the next day at 11am his mother and sister rushed the victim to Rashid Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and at 4am of the next day the hospital informed about his death.

While, the victim was in the hospital, he was receiving calls from two mobile numbers. Omar called the two numbers and one of which was of a Palestinian while the other was a Russian woman.

“Clarifying with the Palestinian told that my brother had a fight Russian people who have beaten him. Immediately I notified my brother-in-law who is the director of Al Ghusais Police station and gave him the mobile numbers my assaulted brother was receiving,” Omar testified.

The victim’s other brother, Shehab, 36, sales executive, was also told by his mother and sister about the condition of the victim when he arrived home.

“I tried to know from my brother what has happened but he refused to tell me, so I left him to rest. My sister told that when the condition of my brother was retarding he repeatedly mentioned the name of the accused who is his friend,” Shehab told the prosecutors.

“When calling one of the numbers that his brother was receiving over the past two days, the accused told him that my brother had a brawl with a Russian woman who has beaten him up and caused him injuries,” he said.

Police arrested the accused from a hotel in Ajman and was accompanied by the Russian and the Uzbek women, Lieutenant Khalfan Salem, 23, who is not a relative of the victim’s family, testified before the prosecution.

The forensic report showed that the victim had bruises at his face, nose, head, arm, and had fractured chest bones and lungs inflection, kidney failure because of blood bacterial poisoning and Aids. The report stated that the death could be due to lung inflection and kidney failure. And the hospital reported the direct cause of the death was severe breathing difficulties.

The accused confessed to beating the victim without any intention of killing him and consuming alcohol. The court adjourned the case until December 15.

This must have been autotranslated. Makes no sense.

The gist of it seems to be that the guys and the women could not agree on the price.

Someone needs an attorney.

Good Samaritan Law? I never heard of it. You don't have to help anybody. That's what this country's all about. That's deplorable, unfathomable, improbable. Hold on. Suzie, cancel my appointment with Dr. Bison. And pack a bag for me. I want to get to Latham, Massachusetts, right away.
