No idea, I didn't take the image/photos. But we see sunsets like that all the time, with the "mountains" of Catalina Island in the background.

They are very spectacular sunsets.

That photo above has what appears to be not mountain peaks, but possibly a fog bank.

IOWs you have no way to say that it is comparable in direction or atmospheric conditions. The cloud structure and the fact that they cover all the visible sky show that it was taken under very different atmospheric conditions.
