Radio personality Laura Schlesinger says she has "no regrets" regarding the tattoo she got from Glenn West at Classic Tattoo in mid-October. It's on her upper left arm and shows a skull clenching in its teeth a single rose. "It is so me," she wrote in an e-mail.
"It doesn't have a name. I came up with the design because I'm a 'bad ass girly girl' (ride a Harley, skipper a racing sailboat, pump iron, hike, etc.)," she e-mailed. She has posted 13 images of the work-in-progress on her website.
"My son thinks it is fabulous ('live hard'), my husband thinks the art is wonderful but wishes it were on someone else. Hey, I'm 63 and I'm not going to have one thing on that Bucket list," she wrote.
KFWB/980 AM has no idea yet who will replace Schlessinger when she quits her show at the end of the year, but they are auditioning replacements.

The tat is horrible, but apart from that, all I can say is, I hope I look as good as Dr. Laura when I’m 63.
Lol -- I think you just nailed it. Who's next? Bill Bennett?
Night
Manning up does not mean letting people abuse you.
That's exactly right. Nor does "manning up" mean calling in others to stop people from "abusing" (i.e.. making fun of) you. In my book, "manning up" means dealing with it yourself. One way is to turn your cheek and go about your business -- in other words, to choose not to be offended. That's one way of "not letting people abuse you." Another is to disarm it with humor. Dr. Laura gave her yet another suggestion for resolving it.
I was the youngest of five kids in a happy but wild and ranging passel of kids. At the age of six, I learned to man-up and deal successfully with what you surely would call "abuse." It has served me well in the nearly five decades that have followed.
She's not wearing her usual eye makeup like you see in her other pics, so it makes her face look different. But I'm *pretty sure* it's her.
If that’s true, it’s sad, she’s kind of flipped her lid. I thought she wouldn’t get tattoos being Jewish and all. (Among other reasons)
Finny, in all honesty there is a lot to this story that I don’t know but I can say this.
I don’t listen to Dr. Laura, so I am taking everyone’s word as to what was said.
I also don’t know this little girl, but I can make some “educated” guesses because I do have some experiences in that field.
Dr. Laura should have told her to “see a doctor” before ever starting a diet. That is first thing. Never mind the bullies, mean kids whatever. She needs to see a doctor.
Why is she overweight?
Okay she is how old? 10 Correct?
It is because......
Her parents only buy food from McDonalds?
She has a bad thyroid?
She still has baby fat that will go away once she start puberty?
She is on medication that causes her to be overweight?
It could be one or more of these. Or something I did not think of.
The fact that she is over weight means she is subject to childhood diabetes and other problems. Why Dr. Laura did not tell her to see a Doctor is beyond me.
A skull holding a rose in it’s teeth. Is this something to do with ‘’The Grateful Dead’’?
I don't see any Biblical prohibition against tattoos in general. I don't have a tattoo, and don't plan on getting one, but I don't think it's necessarily a sin. Do you?
Ron, I’m reading over the thread and wanted to tell you that my brother was absolutely appalled about this. She talked about it on her show a couple of weeks ago and he was just absolutely disgusted. (He really likes her show and her ‘wisdom’) Huge disappointment.
I don’t consider it a sin, I’m a Christian and have tattoos, I really don’t see the problem with them. Now I wouldn’t go get a tat of naked girl and profess to be a Christian, mine are music themed since I am a drummer and guitarist. It’s one of the ways I express my love of music and that’s all there is to it. One of mine is one of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s guitar “Lenny”. He is one of my favorite guitarists.
“That’s exactly right. Nor does “manning up” mean calling in others to stop people from “abusing” (i.e.. making fun of) you”
It does when you are ten years old.
There is no shame in calling on your parents for help when you are a kid.
We must have different expectations of self defense for adults vs. children.
Parents are to protect and provide for their kids. If they don’t, they have failed. That is their job.
“LOL...stir it up some where else fools You and Wile E Coyote Genius make a great pair of noobs...lol.”
What makes me a noob? I’ve posted here for many years. I just recently got a new screen name, for good reasons.
Anyway, defend the abandoners of kids all you like, and laugh hard. It’s a real crack up. They’re sending child soldiers to war in Central Africa. Maybe you could write some letters in support of that. They really toughen them up early, there.
We gain all of our trust through the airwaves, whether it be radio or TV, we judge by words and then deeds and actions.
So you all tell me now, how is anyone to be trusted?

A bit of a drama queen kind of response, doncha think?
You cannot trust someone who has a tattoo?
all I can say is, I hope I look as good as Dr. Laura when Im 63.

You can. Easily.
As long as you have money for the plastic surgeon, the nutritionist and the personal trainer. And the free time to be able to put them all to good use.
Here’s the original Grateful Dead Skull and Roses. Just a link to google images.

There were lots of variations that followed.
Thanks man. Believe me I know “The Dead’’ Trust me, I know. I was just curious if Dr. Laura was a fan. Ann Coulter sure is.
