I know what you mean. Both of mine called and were in a BIG talking mood. I try to be very patient though. If they’re kind enough to call, I will never be in a hurry. We never know what tomorrow may bring. Tomorrow, ‘today’ will be ‘yesterday’!
I asked my DIL one time - what does your mother (80 years old) and her friends talk about, when they get together?
Her response didn't surprise me at all:
Two words was her reply: "Their ailments"!
I made the decision - to never discuss my 'aches and pains' with my kids at that moment.
What good would it do?
When I hang up the phone, I want to smile, knowing they had a pleasant talk with Mom. (And knowing they look forward to talking with me again - and soon!)
