In those verses, I see no commandment from God to perform those rituals on a continuing basis, merely an anecdotal description of behavior at one time and in one place.

Nor do you see any condemnation of their actions either.

These were believers at the time of the Apostles. If choosing to emulate them is not "authentic New Testament Christianity," then the term has no meaning.
