I have never seen a Confederate flag in any lynching photos. The Klan didn’t begin using the Confederate flag until the mid 1950’s.

Prior to the 1950-1960’s the Confederate battle flag was flown by Southern blacks as a protest against the Klan who used the American flag . The Confederate flag was demonized by the Northern press during the “civil rights movement. Attacking the Battle flag is an insult to the approximately 60-70 thousand black officers and enlisted personal that served in the integrated Confederate army.

You won't see any Confederate flags in the 1920s March On Washington KKK parade either.

At that time MOST of the best known KKK groups actually did business NORTH of the Ohio River, and frankly Confederate flags weren't that popular there!

Every time one of these politicians (inside or outside formal political party structures) gets into sexual trouble many observers recall D.C.Stephenson and Madge Oberholtzer. It brought down the largest KKK operation that ever existed.

Many thought there was a risk of this in the Monica Lewinsky affair since her death would probably have destroyed the Democrats.

But Monica didn't die ~ another former WH Intern died, but Eric Holder is mixed up in that particular situation.

A black man and a lesbian just don't have the same cachet!

IIRC, the Klan didn't use Confederate flags (except in Coen brothers movies). They flew the U.S. flag when they marched.

It was the Dixiecrats in 1948, if memory serves, who brought it back as a political symbol. The only Democrat who is known to have been a Klan officer was Sen. Robert Byrd of W. Virginia, and he wasn't a Dixiecrat as far as I know (waiting for correction if any).
