Got one caught in the meaty part of my thumb. Idiot doctor cut the hook to close to the skin and the rest of the hook embedded itself in my palm. After spending an afternoon at some redneck hospital upstate NY, I went home to jersey with a swollen and bloodied hand with a hook still in it.

My hand surgeon looked at it, nodded to a nurse who brought in three cocktails. One for me one for the doc and one for my hand. Hook was out in 10 minutes. My arse hurt more from the tetanus shot he gave me afterwards.

I pulled 45 pound stripers into the beach, had runins with maniacal bluefish and have fought sharks who wanted to turn me into their beyotch. Always got cut up, filled with fish guts and the only thing that kept us sane was ..... beer.

This was a snall mouth bass off my porch on the lake. first cast.

The smaller fish are always the ones that get you.

A few years ago on Long Island a buddy, fishing alone, drove the tail hook of a Striper Swiper into his right wrist. While trying to remove it with his non-dominant left hand, he managed to impale his left wrist on the forward hook....effectively handcuffing himself. He set off for the ER until a cop stopped him for driving erratically. Ya see, he had a standard trans and had to let go of the wheel to shift. Once the cop stopped laughing, he gave him a lift to the ER and waited to give him a ride back to his truck.
