Yeah, really, the big pyramid could have started out as a rubbish pile on the outskirts of town, and after it got too large to do anything else with it, the local gentry decided to make sure it went up according to a plan the rest of the way. ;’)
I believe the Aztecs discovered it already built. They did not construct it — it predates their civilization.
