In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

lucifugous\ loo-see-FOO-guhs \ , adjective
Avoiding light.

Example sentences:
There begin to be seen walking the streets, hugging the walls, odd lucifugous creatures such as the tide uncovers when the water withdraws.
-- André Gide, Justin O'Brien, Journals: 1914-1927
The lucifugous house, firmly fastened on its corner, with a light that descended while it was hardening, dragged along by the cream-colored crab toward subterranean hibernation.
-- José Lezama Lima, Paradiso

Etymology:
Lucifugous combines two Latin roots, luci- , "light," and fugere , "to flee." '

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

you are still in the Fisher-Price zone, so you should probably check the list of recalls.

Congrats on the Winter Classic tix - too damn cool! I went to St.Ignatius, but we didn't have a hockey team when I was there, nor do I think there is one now. Although we did manage to field a football team since a graduated. You may be thinking of Loyola Academy, who has a hockey team.

Pittsburgh in January could be anywhere from 5 to 50 degrees.

(They could have done this years ago by just opening the roof at the old arena.)

Actually I went to The Loyola for college, Chicago's Loyola University, home of the mighty Loyola Phoenix newspaper and the 1963 NCAA Basketball Champs. No to be confused with the lesser Loyolas in New Orleans, Maryland or California.

And I thought it sounded like an elephant-like creature from Sesame Street. Or the tube to the stomach.

Unforch i guess Jim Moran still has a lock on his district [which includes the falls churchers]. His opponent is a young nice looking guy with a very nice looking young family who appears in his commercials, the kids are little and squirming on the couch. The best part is when he says at the end of the commercial, GOD BLESS YOU, can you imagine??? LOL!
