In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
lucifugous\ loo-see-FOO-guhs \ , adjective
Avoiding light.
Example sentences:
There begin to be seen walking the streets, hugging the walls, odd lucifugous creatures such as the tide uncovers when the water withdraws.
-- André Gide, Justin O'Brien, Journals: 1914-1927
The lucifugous house, firmly fastened on its corner, with a light that descended while it was hardening, dragged along by the cream-colored crab toward subterranean hibernation.
-- José Lezama Lima, Paradiso
Etymology:
Lucifugous combines two Latin roots, luci- , "light," and fugere , "to flee." '
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

junz see Dinesh on Glenn yesterday? he did a great job of synopsizing his article and Glenn is standing aside and allowing him to do so. Part 2 is today.
Didn’t get a chance last night, but I have it recorded. We were car shopping, since the old Escort would not pass inspection.
well the 50-50 winnings can help go towards a down payment? you just got a new car last year or so didn’t you? so you will have two up to date cars now and won’t have to worry about repairs.
If there was ever a day that was screaming out for one to stay home and nap, it’s today. Pitch black and pouring rain when i came in at 6 am.
Yeah, it’s nice of Providence to provide these little buffers.
We aren’t looking forward to having another monthly payment, but such is life. Yes, we bought a new 2008 car in 2009. We’re looking at another 2008 right now.
And 2-6 inches of rain along the east coast. Out here we will only get maybe an inch.
When Strom was 90, he was a young 90. Although he should have retired a term earlier because by 95 he was just hanging on barely.
yeah, but to the end he had that nice vibrant orange hair, so natural and lifelike. ROR!
I saw it. It was excellent, although I think I knew most of this already.
well anyone who read his article in Forbes would know it, but i always enjoy seeing stuff presented on Beck’s show because i know there are people seeing it there who would not have seen or heard of the info otherwise.
Maybe we are settling all old scores.
couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people!
Venezuela next?
Agreed

xshub just got 2 more tix to the Winter Classic, so now all 5 of us can go.
where is it this year? By the way, the year it was at Wrigley Field it wasn’t too far from being too cold to skate (the ice won’t melt to provide the momentary slick surface ‘tween the blades and the rink if it’s super cold)
Burgh, twixt the Caps and whatever the team who plays outta the Burgh is called... ; )
