Personally, I don’t see OCD and perfectionism as I was asking about them as a huge deal depending on degree. I asked about them because you seemed to be fairly perfectionist about the issues we were discussing. I thought and think that such feedback might be useful to you. You seemed to care enough to give me feedback you thought useful to me. I care enough to return the favor.
I could have said perfectionistic without the OCD label. I’ve owned largely oversoming some degree of OCD tendencies earlier in my life, by God’s Grace. In a lot of ways, I think OCD has lots a lot of its precision as a term—a lot like schizophrenia. I would have been better to have just said perfectionism. I’m sorry I didn’t.
My “. . . That doesn’t necessarily have much impact on the heart.” was about a specific aspect of spiritual life and relationship with GOD—FEELING HIS LOVE routinely, intensely, confidently, or not. Your assertion sounded like none of my relationship with God impacted my heart at all, which is far from true.

I have found this thread very interesting. Please accept my comments for what they are, an observation of the reaction of Free Republic posters to the original title of the thread.
It appears the main reaction to the press conference has been a religious one. I see no responses such as I would have expected from a thread about FBI or NSA intrusions. In other words, no type of milita reaction. No “We have to prepare to defend ourselves”, etc.
No extended post related to any serious science issues, other than a couple of quick comments.
Another interesting thing is the attribution of demonic or One World Order themes to this conference. I must of missed it, but when asked if the panel thought we should be against nukes, I only saw a couple of hands go up. Not any more percentage that I would guess you would get from any group with a military background. If the events were real, there is nothing that indicates the “aliens” were anti-nuke, only that they demonstrated they could be disarmed by them. They were not damaged. The only thing that I could conclude they were communicating is:”we are here, we can disarm your most powerful weapons.” No messages broadcast, no one heard anything said in their heads, no beings appeared, nada.
Even if you bring in abductions I don’t see any “messages” related to them. Most are related as: They took me. They proded and poked me. They took samples of me. They made me forget it. They “said it wouldn’t hurt but it did”. They did not seem to really care one way or the other. I don’t get where all the evil and demon stuff comes from until you start getting into the accounts of some who frankly seem to be off the deep end anyway.
So I guess my final question would be. If there are really other intelligent life forms out there that are simply God’s creatures just as we are, only more technically advanced that have traveled here, how are they to make themselves known without being branded devils and demons? We cannot believe anything they say since the first assumption is they are liars.
WorldviewDad, I read through your back and forth postings with Quix about this topic. I do not doubt that you Love our Lord Jesus Christ and applaud your tag line. I do agree with Quix about perfectionism in your posts. You world view seems sort of comfortable and “boxed in”. If your box happens to be shaken some day soon, Do not rely on what you assume to be true. Instead, just lean on your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. You will do fine.
