I have to get a copy of the Book of Enoch .

Lera, here's a link to the pre-Dead Sea Scroll translations of R.H. Charles and Richard Laurence...Ethiopian Book of Enoch.

Alamo-Girl said upthread that the following works by James Charlesworth are essential to the study of Enoch...The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, Vol. 1: Apocalyptic Literature and Testaments and The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, Vol. 2: Expansions of the Old Testament and Legends, Wisdom and Philosophical Literature, Prayers, Psalms, and Odes, Fragments of Lost Judeo-Hellenistic works.

I haven't read the Charlesworth tomes yet. They aren't free...in fact, they aren't even cheap!;-)

Just a note to let you know, I went to my local library in Hickstown, USA to see if perhaps they had the Charlesworth Pseudepigrapha vols 1 and 2 on hand. They didn't and because they are classified as "reference" in my state, the state library system wouldn't allow me to check them out even if they were on shelves in other libraries in the Georgia library system.

However they did say that if they could locate them in any U.S. library where they are not classified as reference, they could have them shipped in.

They might take a while to receive and I might have to pay a couple of bucks in shipping, but it's much better than paying retail at Amazon.

So if interested, use and/or pass this info on to friends.
