I could relate to sightings of the UFO light orbs that some callers mentioned.
When I was on active duty in the Navy during the Vietnam war, we witnessed a similar event in the Tonkin Gulf about 70 miles off the coast of North Vietnam. As I recall the event, I was on watch on the 07 level (above the carriers bridge deck on the island structure).The flight deck crew was in the process of re-arming and re-fueling the squadron air wings on the flight deck. As it was night, all work was done under the red combat lighting. At about 0200 hrs., my 07 level watch noticed what appeared to be an air contact just off the port bow at about 25 degrees elevation. We immediately contacted CIC (Combat Information Center) and advised them of this. However, they held no air contacts at all on any of their radar screens.
As we continued to observe the "contact," it suddenly grew to about 4 - 5 times its size in the shape of a of a roundish, orb-like object with what appeared to be flashing red, green and orange lights. All this transpired in a matter of seconds. While its relative elevation remained about the same as when we first saw it as a point of light, it was difficult to even venture a guess as to its range from our ship. Still at this point no radar contacts were made.
The interesting thing, was that as soon as the unidentified (UFO) contact grew in size and displayed the multi-colored, flashing lights, all exterior ships lighting immediately went out creating an extreme hazard for the flight deck crew as it was a moonless night. In addition at the same instant, all our ships radar systems went down and the antennas high above us stopped turning.
Further, our Captain had been in conversation with the Captain of the destroyer (about 1/2 mile aft of us) that served as our plane guard. Their ship-to-ship phone comms ceased at the same time.
The aerial object continued to hover in the same place for about 40 - 50 seconds and then it suddenly streaked off up into the night sky. As soon as this happened, the flight deck lights, radar, ship comms returned to normal, but no contacts on radar were made - even as the contact object sped away. The same conditions happened aboard the destroyer as well.
My carrier was the USS Bon Homme Richard - CVA-31. We had some nuclear weapons onboard - perhaps this is what attracted whatever it was.
About two months later while on R&R in Singapore, several of us who had witnessed the incident in July 1968 met some Australian destroyer sailors who related a similar incident, but of the submerged variety while on an exercise tracking one of their subs. They too had massive electronic malfunctions and lost all sonar and radar capabilities for the entire time of the encounter, which lasted about 1 minute.
Shortly after the July 1968 incident, my ship was heading to Subic Bay in the Philippines. One of our Squadron's A-4 Skyhawk fighters was to rejoin the ship en route as we left the South China Sea.That Skyhawk disappeared without a trace on a cloudless day in perfect flying weather. As it was well past the coast, any enemy contact was ruled out as well as anything mechanical. I'm sure that entry in the ships log probably doesn't exist!”

Subject: Black Triangle Craft and Multi-Colored Lights

I was listening to you on Coast to Coast AM last night, but was unable to get through the phone lines with my story. I think you will find it interesting because it suggests a link between black triangle craft sightings and sightings of rotating, multi-colored lights.Once I was close enough to see the source of the light, I first thought I was looking at a baseball scoreboard, because I saw red and white lighting coming from an object that appeared to be a black rectangle on top of a signpost. Then I noted that the shape was too far away from the baseball fields to be a scoreboard and that the lights were coming from underneath it. The "signpost" I saw was actually a pole for a power line, and the "rectangle" was actually a black, triangular object levitating about a foot over the top of the pole.
The top and bottom of the object were equilateral triangles that ended in sharp points and the three sides were rectangles. From tip to base, I would estimate that the craft was about fifteen feet long. In the center of the underside of the craft was a circular, red light. At each "tip" of the underside were smaller, circular, white lights. If a pole for a power line is twenty-five feet tall, then the object was no more than twenty-six to twenty-seven feet up in the air. It made absolutely no sound, nor did it seem to hover up and down. The object was completely still in the air.
I drove all the way up to the location of the object. I actually pulled over on the side of the road opposite where the object was levitating. For a few seconds the object remained motionless, then made a very precise turn in the air. The object turned as if it was on top of a dais. The center point of the object remained in the same position before and after the turn. One tip of the object was then pointed in the direction of my vehicle. Immediately after the turn, the object drifted soundlessly to a position directly above my vehicle.
At that point I put my gas pedal to the floor and sped away down the road that ran alongside Munny-Sokol park, in the opposite direction from Union Chapel Road! I continued to watch the position of the object in my rearview mirror as I sped away. The object did not follow me but continued to move forward over an area that is now Ol' Colony Golf Complex. I turned right towards Verner school and then managed to steel my nerves enough to turn around and see if the object was still in the area. When I came back down the road in the direction of Union Chapel Road, the object was gone.. . .

As I approached the elbow, at a distance of no more than one hundred feet from the turn, I immediately saw flashing yellow and white lights from directly in front of me. Thinking that a wrecker or a semi was coming from around the other side of the elbow, I pulled over to the side of the road. I continued to watch the lights but no vehicle ever came, and then I realized that the lights were not from a source that was on the other side of the elbow; the lights were coming from a source that was directly in front of me but just off of the road. Suddenly the lights changed from yellow and white to yellow, white, red, blue, and green. Then the lights stopped. I drove all the way up to where the road turns and got out of my vehicle, but I could not see any object at the place where the lights were coming from.

During the winter of 1999-2000, I kept seeing orange lights in the sky over an area that has several gold mines on my way to and from work. Then in the summer of 2000, one of those lights actually flew above my garden, stopped and I watched it for about 1 minute before it turned direction and flew off.
I live 50 miles southwest of Fairbanks, Alaska. During that time I worked in Fairbanks and had a long commute early in the morning between 6:00am and 7:00am and then leaving work around 5:00pm and arriving home around 6:00pm. Our long winter nights meant driving in the dark both ways. The winter sightings were so odd, I couldn’t believe that no one was reporting these sightings to the local paper. These orange lights reminded me of sodium street lights in color and intensity of glow. They were quite big, maybe 30 feet in diameter and only a couple hundred feet in the air.I know they were low in the sky because as I was driving into Fairbanks from the Parks Hwy you come down Ester Hill that overlooks the city. I could see these orbs below me as I was descending down the hill. When you reach the bottom of Ester hill there is a community with the same name that is surrounded by hills that have several gold mines there. There is also a State of Alaska weigh station on the right side of the highway directly across from the access road to Ester. This area was mined heavily by dredges years ago. I personally know one of the families that owns one of the mines. These lights would be hovering over the mines. Sometimes over the mines to the left of the highway and sometimes over the mines to the right of the highway. I saw them every day for months.
I told my coworkers and husband about these but of course they laughed. So, I never reported this to the police or called FAA. I was surprised that no one in that area reported them anywhere. Then I saw on the UFO reporting center website that a husband and wife saw these orange orbs in their backyard during the same time. They live in North Pole with is about 12 miles east of Fairbanks. I am attaching their UFO reports to this email. After a couple of months the lights disappeared until I had a close encounter with one at my home.
It was the following July 2000 during our 24 hours of summer daylight and it was hot. I had gotten out of bed because I couldn’t sleep and had wandered into the bathroom to look out the open window trying to catch a breeze to cool down. I live on 5 acres with 2 acres cleared. The view out my windows is to the NW sky. Even though I live in a subdivision the closest neighbor is ½ mile away, all I see out my windows is wilderness. As I looked out the window I saw a salmon orange globe approximately 30 feet in diameter approach from the NW towards my garden. It stopped about 20 feet above the 60 foot trees that line the north side of the garden. The globe looked like a 30 foot diameter pale salmon colored transparent glass ball.Inside the globe, half the diameter of the outside surface was a darker salmon orange globe that was not transparent and in the center of the darker globe was a steady brilliant white light. It was hard to tell the size of the white light because of the brilliance. This ball /globe was not glowing or pulsing. It just looked like a transparent salmon colored Christmas ornament with something darker inside with a very shiny light on it. I remember feeling a shock as the hair stood up on the back of my neck and arms and I had the distinct feeling that I was being watched. Although I did not see any type of creature or movement from inside the globe, I started to think the words “Don’t scare me now.” and with that thought the object made a left angle turn and took off to the north.

I'm a very private man living a not so private life and well, to be honest I've kept my secret a long time and I just don't want anyone I know either personally or in my business life to know anything about what happened to me. I've never told a soul and I had planned on spending my entire life without doing so.
Last week I listened to your November interview as that Texas nurse told her story about the bark-skinned creatures and thought to myself, bark? Then my mind wondered as to maybe she means like the bark of a birch or similar tree that is just a little bit rough and not as deep as perhaps a much larger tree such as an oak. After picturing them as so in my mind's eye, I became a little un-nerved to the idea, she might be telling the truth.
But your December 2010 Earthfiles and Coast interviews scared the bejezus out of me!
At 40 years of age, I thought I was through having the nightmares but, you gave me a doozy this past Sunday. I was catching up on my coast podcasts laying in bed waiting for the sandman to come and do his trick when I got to the story of the man taken in 1977 by the green-skinned fellas. The story of his kid's night terrors really got to me as I too was a young boy at the very same time having the very same horrors of my own to deal with.Then at the end of the first half hour of the interview, you mentioned lizard skin. I had to turn it off at that point, I just couldn't listen any more - it brought back a memory, a very scary memory. A couple hours later my wife woke me up because I was, as she told me, making horrible sounds, bouncing and rolling around in the bed and sweating bullets.
I will say this much - they ain't gray (where that ever came from? I'm sure I'll never know) and their skin ain't smooth. I know! I've been face-to-face with them, I even hugged one when I was seven years old, yes that's the honest truth and I know what their alien skin looks like up close. It (their skin) always sort of reminded of a brown anole lizard - though maybe just a bit lighter but, the texture is a spot on perfect match, very thin, light and leathery. I remember it so vividly because unlike my experience as a child there was no tinkering with my brain to help me block or forget it the second time as an adult, I woke up fully aware of what just happened just a few hours prior.
