Since nearly all UFO evidence is anecdotal, the source must be very carefully considered. A massive percentage of these accounts is questionable (though innocently so). Yet in that huge pile of manure, there are nuggets of what appear to be genuine first hand accounts (direct evidence). The task of the unbiased mind is to pick this evidence apart very carefully and not be influenced by normal human desire or emotion.
As to the account in question, I never said the guy was or was not telling the truth, I said my BS detector went off...the story broke down (i.e. red flags mean more evidence needed in this case).
I will say however that IMHO you jumped to his defense instead of wondering about any red flags.
BTW, you aren't the only one around here with experience in human behavior and it is arrogant to assume an attitude of superiority. I say that because I know you to be passionate and not arrogant...but I also know your passion can lead to a dismissiveness of others when they take positions at odds with your own.
I know you will forgive me in advance for my being so forward. As you know well, I carry my own huge load of human foibles and have little room to talk.
All this said, we are on the same team and, if you haven't forgotten, I have jumped to your defense (often unnecessarily) on many occasions.
No sweat.
I wholesale agree.
Thx.
