Part 3:  What A Biophysicist Says About Crop Formations

© 2010 by Linda Moulton Howe

“I have never seen such rapid changes from plant sample
to plant sample in both of the ring circles. That means the plasma
energies were so compartmentalized that wheat growing only twelve
inches from another sample was very different.”

- W. C. Levengood, Biophysicist

October 11, 2010  Albuquerque, New Mexico  -  The following is my presentation at the Brazil Conference: “Science Discusses the Crop Circle Phenomenon,”  September 25 – 26, 2010, in  Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

As a science and environment investigative reporter, I made my first trip to Wiltshire County, England, in July 1992, to explore the beautiful mystery of crop formations. The first pattern I stepped into convinced me I had encountered a powerful and profound force. A group of us heard about this a pattern of five circles below Milk Hill and had walked along the crest to look from above. The sky was blue, the wheat was glistening and there were five circles, four connected by undulating paths and one circle by itself.

[QUIX NOTE: I'm not likely to post many pics from this article. Please check them out with the rest of the article at the link to Linda's webpages.]

. . .
. . .
We began to run down the hill and into a tramline that went straight to the edge of the pattern. Everyone was laughing and yelling until we reached the edge of a large circle. I walked forward and was stopped by what felt like a wall of jello. I had encountered that same kind of jello resistance before in a lab near a large Tesla coil that was emitting an electrostatic field.

Everyone became quiet, in awe of the “swirling water” in front of us. The wheat plants were laid down in fluid, liquid-looking patterns, seven layers deep in some places. I lifted up top plants to find a layer below going 90 degrees to the top layer. I lifted up the second layer and found a third layer going 45 degrees to the second layer. I lifted up the third layer to find a fourth layer going 90 degrees to the third layer And so on down to the soil, each layer going a different direction to the layer above.

The other people had walked to the far left end circle. But for some reason, I was drawn to the edge of the large circle that had an L-shaped pattern projecting outward. I touched the wheat heads on the edge of that circle and suddenly was overwhelmed with the sense that I was not alone, that a presence of Another Intelligence was palpable and It was “absorbing me.” When I have stared into the eyes of Siberian tigers in a zoo, I have felt the same powerful intelligence that watches me in curiosity, but if I crossed a certain line my survival would not be guaranteed. In fact, the residue in my mind after that encounter with the unseen is that life is not guaranteed on Earth and that crop formations might be a link to an incomprehensible intelligence concerned about influencing the Earth’s future timeline. That was July 1992.

The next year in 1993 and nearly every year since, I have gathered soil and plant samples from crop formations in England and the United States to ship to W. C. Levengood at his Pinelandia Biophysical Laboratory in Grass Lake, Michigan.

A year after that in 1994, Dr. Levengood published his crop circle research in the international botany journal, Physiologia Plantarum. His article was entitled, “Anatomical anomalies in crop formation plants.”

formation plants” © 1994 by W. C. Levengood, Biophysicist.

By then, Dr. Levengood described crop formations as “force diagrams,” with the plants providing visual clues as to the type and structure of the energy involved. He wrote: “evidence is presented, which indicates that structural and cellular alterations take place in plants exposed within the confines of the crop formations – differences that were determined to be statistically significant when compared with control plants taken outside the formations.” Biophysical changes include:

- Abnormal growth node swelling and reorientation caused by microwave heating. In 1996 in a Butte, Nebraska, wheat formation, Dr. Levengood found on the left – growth nodes reoriented 72% compared to normal control stems in the center. Some of the plants shown on the right had node reorientations up to 173% compared to the normal control plants.

- Expulsion cavities in growth nodes also caused by microwave heating. The hole in each growth node shown here was caused by heating of the water in the nodes hot enough to burst out, leaving the holes. These expulsion cavities were found throughout a flattened circle of wheat in Garnett, Kansas, in 1994.

- Another dramatic example of expulsion cavities where growth nodes exploded from microwave heating was discovered in a concentric ring formation on June 28, 1997, in a Salem, Oregon, wheat field.

- Abnormal accelerated growth in embryogenesis that produces looped, malformed peduncles. The white arrow points at a malformed peduncle at the base of the wheat seed head discovered in a 1999 formation at Avebury, Wiltshire, England. The peduncle is the stalk right below the seed head. The malformation is caused by ion-electron avalanches from spinning plasma vortices that interact with the plants during the crop formation process and accelerate growth in peduncle cells.

QX NOTE: I don't think they have more than a slightly educated guess as to what's REALLY causing such things. It's just the only sort of logical thing they can come up with . . . and some very limited lab experiments give some believability to the micro-wave aspect.]

. . .
. . .

- Here is another severely abnormal peduncle that loops and loops and loops caused by accelerated growth after a spinning plasma vortex containing ion-electron avalanches interacts with the plants during the creation of a crop formation in Whitefish, Montana, also in 1999.

- Significant changes in seed germination and development. The top seedlings show 80% increased seed development over control seedlings on bottom, collected in a June 28, 2003, wheat formation in Solano, California. Seed development in crop formations can also go the other way – be weaker and less vigorous.

Why do crop formation seeds have either vigorous, accelerated seed development? Or weaker, slower growth? Dr. Levengood has studied seeds, plants and soil from 322 crop formations in the United States, England, Canada, and Israel since 1993. He is convinced that the force involved in producing the complex and genuinely mysterious crop patterns are spinning plasma vortices. In the spinning plasma vortex, Dr. Levengood hypothesizes there are two energy components that have the most impact on plant growth and structure:

1) Microwave Radiation Energy – that can produce tissue heating and slow down or stop embryonic growth, cause changes in cell walls, expand growth nodes and heat node water to eruptions that leave holes in growth nodes.

2) Ion-electron Avalanche Energy – can produce seedling growth enhancement as an antioxidant that reduces free radical levels in seeds.

The next year in 1995, Dr. Levengood published in the Journal of Scientific Exploration more about his ongoing crop formation research entitled, “Semi-Molten Meteoric Iron Associated with A Crop Formation.”

The formation that convinced him was a 1993 wheat pattern on a hillside at Cherhill in Wiltshire County, England. The big formation was 445 feet long. Right in the middle were two overlapping arcs that no one had ever seen before in crop formations.

In the 1991 book, “The Civilization of the Goddess, The World of Old Europe by Marija Gimbutas, I found examples of Old European script that included the “lu” symbol underlined in green. That symbols was commonly used 6,000 to 7,000 years ago on religious objects and is interpreted as communication between man and the gods.

As an experiment, a magnet was dragged through some of the wheat. One seed head stuck to the magnet. That seed head was covered with a thin coating of iron oxide. Since the iron glaze was distributed like spray paint over the 1993 Cherhill soil and plants, Dr. Levengood reasoned that the iron was in a liquid or semi-liquid state rotating inside a spinning plasma before it was deposited by centrifugal force during the formation’s creation. The likely source of the iron? Meteoritic dust in the upper atmosphere.

Dr. Levengood wrote, “Both soil chunks and plant tissue taken from specific regions within the 1993 wheat crop formation in Cherhill, England, exhibited a high degree of magnetic attraction. That is because iron oxides, hematite (Fe2O3) and magnetite (Fe3O4) fused into a heterogeneous mass like a ‘magnetic glaze.’ This material appears to be of meteoric origin and apparently impacted the ground while in the semi-molten state.”

The above 40-power photomicrograph taken in 1993 at Dr. Levengood’s laboratory shows the underside of a Cherhill wheat leaf’s epidermal cell structure imprinted with thin magnetic iron glaze. The backside of this leaf was not even damaged by the molten iron deposit because of the Liedenfrost effect. That means suddenly heated leaves can release steam through their stomata that creates a protective layer between the leaves and whatever warm substance touches them. In this case, it was melted meteoric iron particles sprayed on the plants and soil.

Dr. Levengood asked, “Is it possible that a pair of downward directed, counterclockwise plasma vortices intersected and captured meteoric dust along the way?”

Working backwards from the biophysical evidence, Dr. Levengood hypothesized that plasmas of positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons were spinning high in the atmosphere and descended toward the ground carrying microwaves and other complex energies. But the source of spinning plasma vortices is still a mystery.

Dr. Levengood wondered if the iron dust were heated to a semi-molten state by microwaves contained in the plasma sub-vortices? The next step would be that spinning plasma vortices carried the iron dust to the wheat field where complex energies created the Cherhill pattern. If so, this would mean there is an unknown phenomenon of ionospheric plasma vortices that can descend to the Earth’s surface, interact with crops and grasses and leave remarkable, often baffling patterns that indicate the spinning plasma can compartmentalize its energies in clockwise and counterclockwise directions and enhance growth in one ring of crop and repress growth in another ring.

Whatever the source of the spinning plasmas, the evidence indicates that meteoric dust impacted the ground while in a semi-molten state and was confined to multiple, tight vortices within the 1993 Cherhill wheat formation.”

Since his publication about finding the magnetite sprayed on the Cherhill wheat and soil, Dr. Levengood has found high concentrations of magnetic iron in some other crop formations, as much as 700 times higher than normal soil (0.4 milligram of magnetite per gram of soil.) Further, the distribution of magnetic iron on the soil indicates it was spun outward by centrifugal force.

To date, Dr. Levengood has studied soil from more than 100 crop formations around the world and says, “In about 99% of those soil cases, these were spherical, tiny - ranging from 5 microns up to 100 microns or about 1/10th of a millimeter. EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) shows the spheres are pure magnetite.”

CROP CIRCLES

August 1997 oats formation in Marion, New York.

For those who argue the magnetite nodules in crop formation soil is just some natural phenomenon, in 2002 the journal Nature published two articles about spherical micrometeorite particles. What was emphasized in both papers was how rare these particles are. Twenty or thirty magnetite particles were found down at the bottom of a well in Antarctica about 80 feet underground. In crop formations, Dr. Levengood has opened up some soil sample bags from magnet drags and under a microscope, he has found hundreds of magnetite and hematite particles. That means the spinning plasma vortices have attracted meteoritic iron dust into them and the result is a unique concentration of magnetite nodules in crop formation soils.

Dr. Levengood thinks low-energy plasmas could explain the mysterious lights photographed in and around crop formations, sacred stone circles and dolmens. He thinks the reason could be electric and magnetic field anomalies at sacred sites that enable low energy plasma creation.

Biophysicist Levengood argues is a spiral plasma. Sitting in the center of the Roundway
wheat formation on August 1, 1999, was Gordan Stewart from Earls Barton, Northampton,
England. The white spiraling plasma was not visible to Gordan or the photographer.

For example, here is a photograph taken on August 1, 1999, of British crop circle investigator, Gordon Stewart, sitting in the center of a large pattern at Roundway in Wiltshire County. The spiraling plasma arch was not seen by Gordon, the photographer, or anyone around him at the time.

The camera was 35mm with activated flash. Dr. Levengood hypothesizes that the arch of white light is produced by low-energy plasmas that could not be seen by human eyes. But the silver in the 35mm film was sensitive enough to record the photon energy in the plasma.

Other mysterious small spheres of light have been seen with human eyes - and even photographed and videotaped in and around crop formations – since the early 1990s. Here for example, is a small, visible sphere of light that moved rapidly above the triple crescent formation at Barbury Castle, Wiltshire, England on August 7, 1999.

Why are some plasma spheres seen and photographed, but the spinning plasma vortices that Dr. Levengood thinks is responsible for creating many of the truly complex crop patterns around the world not seen and photographed? That is still an unsolved physics mystery.

Crop circle photographer and investigator, Andrew Pyrka, from Cheltenham, England, drove several hours to reach the pattern at 3:30 AM on July 12, about two days after the pattern was first reported.

See more images and information: Cropcircleconnector.com.

At dawn, Andrew was photographing in the early light and was shocked to see three, bright, orange-yellow balls of light moving in the air not far from the formation where the round, orange circle is. Thus, the 2010 Guy’s Cliffe wheat formation combines an extraordinary and unique pattern with the presence of the mysterious glowing spheres that Dr. Levengood would now call, “intelligent plasmas of unknown origin.”

Interesting the *lights* in the sky are pretty much the same for years on end.

Who’s ready for a different sort of visitor?

Quix, you can make crop circles fairly easy. Grab a board and tamp out a pattern. Most of those circles were pranks.

Odd pranks, but pranks none the less.
