Who can predict a solar flare three years in advance? All they can predict is that the solar cycle should be nearing its maximum at that time.

Maybe there is a big solar flare, maybe not. Even if there is, it may not hit the Earth, since it would have to be in the part of the sun directly facing the Earth.

Why even worry about it? If it does happen there is nothing we can do about it. If it doesn't, so what?
