Thanks decimon. Time once again for...
The Neandertal Enigma
by James Shreeve

in local libraries
Frayer's own reading of the record reveals a number of overlooked traits that clearly and specifically link the Neandertals to the Cro-Magnons. One such trait is the shape of the opening of the nerve canal in the lower jaw, a spot where dentists often give a pain-blocking injection. In many Neandertal, the upper portion of the opening is covered by a broad bony ridge, a curious feature also carried by a significant number of Cro-Magnons. But none of the alleged 'ancestors of us all' fossils from Africa have it, and it is extremely rare in modern people outside Europe." [pp 126-127]

Letting the imagination fly...

Since this is Italy and the origin of such groups as Etruscan is unknown...

Just stirring the sauce pan a bit with that.

Humans began walking upright with the invention of the wheelbarrow. Those cultures that did not have the wheelbarrow kept falling on their faces. They developed brow ridges to absorb the shock. They soon thereafter developed the wheeled suitcase, which ended the forward toppling problem, but left them rather dull-looking anyway.

It's all in how one interprets the strata. The Southern Italian Neanderthals did not invent the pizza. They had them delivered, little suspecting at the time that those long Neanderthal arms were perfect for the pizza twirl and flip.
