The situation was more complex than Britain storming around Jewish refugee ships like Nazi stormtroopers.
Remember, British soldiers and civilians were being murdered, shot and bombed by Jewish terrorists in Palestine at that time. And they were using the publicity to raise guns and funds and even using those ships to smuggle in arms.
Also, the hanging of those enlisted British soldiers ... bad tactical error :^(
