What happened to Glenn Beck??(VANITY)

Posted on 09/15/2010 7:21:21 AM PDT by NCBraveheart

It has taken me a while for me to finally notice this. Approximately 2 years ago Beck was on the radio talking pitchforks and torches. About fighting back against the liberal-progressive tide. Now he is talking about what seems to be a national Kum-Byah-Ya and group hug? It seems he has become more interested in shilling for Beck Inc. rather than raising a call to action. I may be viewing it wrong but that is just how I see it.

I consider Mormons to be Christian, I guess you don’t.

Politics will at best produce only temporary gains unless we strive to be the type of people that this Republic was designed for.

Bravo!

He mentioned birthers earlier and that always sets off an “I hate Glenn Beck” thread.

That tone, worked to pack the Lincoln memorial with a half million people a month or so ago.

Patriotic, well mannered Americans who stood up to be counted... then cleaned up after themselves when they left in the afternoon.

Eclipsing, the “counter-demonstration”. Before you criticize Beck, perhaps think about the enormity of that gathering. He’s frustrating at times, but nobody else is out there doing what he’s doing.

He’s a good guy I think.

Oh, now you've done it..... the usual anti-Mormon suspects will be breathing down your neck any time now.

Our county is beyond natural help we are in the final stages of an Empire.
We can never repay our debt
We want to kill our young and old
We want to justify choose our own morality without concern for God
Money has become God to many

If you read the Old Testament Countries like these end up being punished.

Beck truly believes this he is scared to death of what could happen. There is nothing he can do or anyone else. He believes the only chance we have is GOD stepping in

He believe if people turn to God they will become nicer and they will help their fellow man and with Gods help we will get through this.
Without Gods help we are lost
I think there are a lot of people out there who also believe this.

I think he really enjoys his role as a history buff and the big picture. Endorsing given candidates is a distraction to what he wants to do. As he said, if you don’t investigate a given candidate to the tees they can always reflect badly on your reputation if they screw up.

Also, Beck seems to be very, very impressionable, and his rhetoric swings according to whatever book he happens to be reading at the time.

I've noticed that too.

You’re saying he wasn’t a Christian before he was a Mormon?

I was actually making a joke. But the LDS concepts of “Divided Trinity”, men become gods, etc., don’t seem all that Christian to me.

Of more interest is the fact that the poster considers Catholics (Jesus’ Church) to be not Christian.

He has said many times...where is “our” George Washington...?

He get’s it...however this is about business for Glenn Beck just like it would be for any good capitalist...

" I’m with noiseman here, we need lasting change, and a return to the principles our country was founded upon."

Thanks so much for the kind words.

I'm frankly amazed that so many of us here this morning are having trouble figuring this out. We must become the type of people that the Founders designed this country for if we want to restore it. Contrary to what the left would have us think, it is impossible to airdrop a random group of people into the American system and have it still be America. Even if this group succeeds in staging a political takeover of the government and pushes the right general principles, they will fail in the long run as the baser instincts of their human nature eventually pull them away from those principles.

To cut to the chase, even we conservatives will screw it all up (need I reference the recent evidence?) unless we rely upon God for our sense of direction. Oh, I know there are many "secular" conservatives out there who bristle at that notion, but to you I would simply say that you are just as incompatible with our founding principles as are the liberals. This sometimes uncomfortable fact is simply indisputable. Need proof? I could cite endless statements by the Founders, but this well-known one by John Adams always says it best:

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Now, stop the ridiculous speculating about rodeo clowns and profit-making. I guarantee that what I have just said is the real reason that Glenn Beck has changed his tone of late. It also ought to give all of us reason to think about where we stand as well.

I really don’t know what he was before Mormon, except an alcoholic, which led (when he bottomed out) to his joining the Mormon Church, thus my comment about his “conversion.”

I didn’t say it was bad. Any good capitalist would do the same.

I think history we regard Beck as a true American Patriot and potentially a hero - certainly a folk hero. He is certainly putting his life on the line.

I have learned more from Glenn Beck and have read more and bought more books in the last 4 years all because of his efforts.

I hope he never stops...and I hope he makes a gazillion dollars doing it!

Because I love U.S. History,(the way it should be told), I do go out of my way to catch his Friday program, his Founding Fathers Friday.

But his Mon thru Thur show is full of boiler-plate Libertarianism, painting both the Republicans and Democrats equally bad for the country. I'll get caught up into one of these entertaining programs then all of a sudden he will say something really stupid, like one recent show when he said “putting the Republicans back in power in November would be a huge mistake”. Makes me wonder how many of his millions of listeners fall for that, and will be voting for a third party instead because of Beck.

I do give him high praise though for 8/28. It was awesome - and it was because he kept “his” politics out of it.

However, watching his program just to catch cute Kelly Evans reporting for the Wall Street Journal at the end almost makes listening to his daily show worth it.

True ... and where Beck threads are concerned, I've found that the anti-Mormon crowd is more likely to show up and turn it into an "I hate Mormons" thread.

If only he was a libertarian! Unfortunately, it is not true. Despite some grumbling, When push comes to shove Beck supports both the war on drugs but Obama's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
