Sure they don't need much to make them go after people but in all honesty would you want it on your head that some innocent people are going to be killed because you want to make some sort of statement.
Remember when the NYT's reported on a Koran being torn up at Gitmo? People died because of that, and the NYT's has blood on their hands because of it.
And remember when people died because of cartoons...and remember when people died because of a Dutch film maker...And remember when people died because... Where does the cowering end?
Refusing to acquiesce to the threats and demands of lunatics does not leave blood on the hands of those that stand up, only on the hands of the lunatics that do the killing. And the more we acquiesce the more blood there will be.
Imagine if every free paper in the world had published the cartoons on page 1 above the fold as a show of solidarity and refusal to be intimidated. Do you think more people would have died, or do you think that might have been a big step toward the end of Muslims telling the rest of us what we can say, write and do because of their precious sensibilities?
Burning Korans is tasteless and stupid, but you are blaming the wrong people on the toilet flush thing. The NYT (I thought it was another outlet) committed bad journalism. The lunatic Muslim savages did the killing and are solely responsible for it.
