The stupid thing is that capacitors have ALWAYS had layers. Most articles on sciency stuff make this sort of mistake. Some ignorant reporter (but I repeat myself) latches on to something they were told about the new discovery and assumes that is the new part. Then the report completely the wrong thing as what was the break through. Sometimes they even go into great detail about one aspect of the topic... and it is an aspect that was old news. While they completely gloss over the actual discovery.
