No it is not self defense it is you justifing what speed you wish to do otherwise you would do the speed limit.

Ratman, the difference is that I don't resent the driver in front of me. As long as he's going faster in the left lane than the traffic in the right lane is, and he's not under the speed limit, I figure he has a right to be using the left lane. I certainly don't think he's a problem if he's at the limit or a little bit over according to the usual grace given. (I do agree that if the right lane is wide open, that's the place to be unless passing.)
