How 'Nakba' Proves There's No Palestinian Nation
Terrorism Awareness ^ | Steven Plaut

Posted on 08/11/2010 9:59:44 PM PDT by citizenredstater9271

Over the past few years, the term nakba (also spelled naqba) has become the favorite nonsense word of the Anti-Israel Lobby. Meaning “catastrophe” in Arabic, it has been embraced by anti-Semites all over the planet to refer to Israel’s creation, which supposedly imposed a “catastrophe” upon the “disenfranchised Palestinian Arabs.”

Of course, the real catastrophe that befell the Arabs in 1948-49 was that they failed in their attempt to annihilate Israel and exterminate its population, and for that they paid a price.

Meanwhile, Nakba Nonsense has been spreading. Google finds over 85,000 web pages referring to Israel’s creation as a “nakba,” and a Yahoo search finds even more than that. The anti-Israel web magazine Counterpunch cannot mention Israel without using the term. Even Israel’s leftist minister of education, Yuli Tamir, has orderedthat the nakba be taught as partof the curriculum in Israeli schools, where Israel’s schoolchildren can be taught to mourn their own country’s existence.

(Tamir, who was previously a professor of education at Tel Aviv University, is so bizarre that in the summer of 1996 she published an article in the Boston Review defending female circumcision in the Third World and denouncing those who expressed disgust at the practice – see http://bostonreview.net/BR21.3/Tamir.html.)

Nakba ceremonies are now held each year by leftist professors at Israeli universities who mourn the very creation and existence of their country.

The nakba of the late 1940’s and 1950’s that befell large numbers of Jews living in Arab countries who were suddenly expelled, persecuted, and stripped of their property does not interest such people. Those Jewish refugees made new homes in Israel and actually outnumbered the Palestinians who fled.

Jew hating Arabs and leftists use the "nakba" to delegitimize Israel. Too bad it delegitimizes so-called "Palestinians". If Israel didn't have to answer to N0bama it would have kicked every Arab out by now. Let's pray and vote for a pro-Israel candidate in 2012 so it can happen. ALL ARABS OUT OF JEWISH LAND.

Can I ask you to consider an alternate perspective in that clearly there were many generations of people living in the land during the past 1500-2000 years ... they start getting kicked out or moved, then they hear Moshe Dayan say this in 1973:

"A new State of Israel with broad frontiers, strong and solid, with the authority of the Israel Government extending from the Jordan to the Suez Canal. "

That is far more than the post-1967 borders, isn't it?

Have you read the Bible? True the land that belongs to the Jewish nation goes much further then Israel’s post 1967 borders since God promised the Jews all the land from the Nile to Euphrades to south of the Litani. Why does the gov. in America which is supposed to be One Nation Under God want to deny the Jews the right to this land? These Arabs have plenty of land. They can move elsewhere if they hate Jews so much.

Have you read the Bible?

Yes I have... the religion of Adam and Eve, and later Abraham and Moses, started under direct orders and instruction from God is now called Christianity.

The Second Temple was destroyed because it was no longer needed - Jesus indwells in us, if we are humble enough to let God direct us.

The construction of the Third Temple will therefore be the ultimate blasphemy and the world will end soon after.

Pay attention... the "scribes and Pharisees" that Jesus warned us about and never had a good word for, are the same ones that wrote the Babylonian Talmud between 100 AD and 500 AD.

If any part of true Judaism still exists in the world, it is the branch known as the Karaites, who reject wholly the Pharisees' teachings and focus on the real written Mosaic Law.

I was wondering the same thing. what bible is he reading?
Jesus will be teaching from the new temple, and even goes so far to say that He will be involved in the sacrifices. Not many read that.
I have talked to many christians that think the same as him. And many also believe and teach that the abomination that makes desolate is the sacrificing of animals, they claim that since Jesus was sacrificed, that animal sacrifice is done away with. Not so.
Paul was even in the process of completing the Nazarite vow - it’s in the bible. the Nazarite vow involves the sacrifice of birds and animals.

Is that before or after the City of God comes down from Heaven? (The one with the HUGE wall and no need for the Sun because God directly provides the light; mentioned near the end of Revelation IIRC)
If it’s after then wouldn’t the temple talked about be the one in *that* City?

Gee, so sad they reject the religion of the Pharisees as Yahshua was a Pharisee. Actually the Pharisee of Yahshua’s day were mostly very godly men who taught in the synagogues and took care of the spiritual needs of their community. Yahshua had a problem with only a handful of corrupt clergy but wouldn't that be the case today if He were talking to the Pastors?

>>Jesus will be teaching from the new temple, and even goes so far to say that He will be involved in the sacrifices. Not many read that.<<

There are many different sacrifices for many different conditions. Yahshua was the Passover lamb slain for the sins of the individual families. Just as today His sacrifice is for our past sin...I won't go any further, however, could you give me a reference to your above statement. Thank you.

Haven’t you gotten the memo?

You’re supposed to claim you have noting against Jews and Judaism. You’re supposed to say that you just don’t like Zionism because Israel is just so mean to all those Arabs.

Raw anti Semitism is so passe when Westerners further the Arab/Islamic cause.

The good news is that you get points for honestly. Hate Jews (Judaism), hate Israel. Can’t get any simpler.

I don't hate Jews, never have.

However I am not going to give any special status to the claims of Christians who want to give Israel whatever they want based on a misguided loyalty to what they think the Bible tells them.

Most American Jews are of Askenazi origin, which means that 2000 years ago their ancestors were living in Kazaria or the North Caucasus region, not Palestine/Israel; so claims of an inheritance being denied are little more than lies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khazars

I don't hate Jews, never have.

Of course you don't.

You just repeat by rote every single support for anti Semitism that exists.

You believe Judaism is passe and illegitimate.

And you add, Jews are not real Jews. You can't let every historical and scientific evidence, DNA studies for example, which prove that to be total nonsense get in the way of your prejudices.

I've got bad- or good, depending- news for you. If you really believe that you're not anti Semitic, then add delusional to your malady.

Why did Nathan of Gaza, the famous scholar, coin the term Ashkenazi then?

Not that I believe it will make any difference, but I would be faulted for not trying.

The difference between Ashkenazi Jews and Sephardic Jews is in some minor religious observances. It’s not DNA, its not race, its not different ancestors.

Would it shock you to learn that my family became Ashkenazi after we where expelled from Spain in the 15th Century. That’s because our particular family moved into Europe where the customs were Ashkenazi. Another expelled Spanish family may have moved to North Africa and remained with the Sephardic influence.

We are all Jews, with the priestly family of Cohanim closely related in both traditions.

Here is some trivia for you, some big difference between the two traditions, Ashkenazim don’t eat corn on Passover, even though it is not forbidden -Sephardim do.

Sure...
Ezekiel chapters 40 thru 48 speak of future events, esp the events taking place in the Millennium.
Not all believers will get to rule and reign with the Lord during the 1000 years here on earth. ONLY the OVERCOMERS. One can be saved and not yet an overcomer. What is an overcomer? One who overcomes these three things...the enemy, sin, and the spirit of the world.

Not long ago I understood in a different way a scripture that Paul penned...

Phil 3:13-14
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

What mark? what prize? what high calling? Paul was more like Christ than most, he was surely going to go to heaven and he knew that, right?...so, what is he talking about?

Here it is. Heaven, be it great, is second place. One can just barely make it to heaven and enjoy eternity there. Realizing that how you live your life here will determine your position in heaven. Some will be on the outskirts of heaven, while others will be close to the throne. Or, like Paul, one can press toward the mark, for the PRIZE of the high calling...the overcomers life, and be able to rule and reign HERE on the earth with Him for the 1000 years. And there is more after that. Once the Lord is satisfied with the work done here on earth, His glory will be made manifest throughout the entire universe! How? By His Spirit thru the overcomers being sent to the ends of the universe, establishing His kingdom in every corner of the universe..forever and ever. Every planet, every galaxy. This 1000 years on the earth is going to be a busy time...basically doing what Adam and Eve were commissioned to do in the first place, but were unable to complete.

Whatever your position in heaven, you will only be allowed to go from THAT level to a lower level in heaven. Our goal should be to live our life in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord to such a degree that we are given access close to the throne, we may then be given this privelege of coming back to the earth with the Lord.

Revelation talks about the overcomer. read it.

The genetic, linguistic, and historical evidence conclusively refutes the "Khazar" hypothesis. Genetically, Sephardic, Mizahi, and Ashkenazi Jews are nearly indistinguishable. Linguistically, Yiddish comes from German and has no trace of Turkish. Historically, there is a continuous Jewish presence in Europe, extending from Ashkenaz (Franco-Germany) eastward.

The only people who repeat nonsense about the Khazars these days are Jew-hating Arabs, Jew-hating Black Hebrews, and so-called "Christian Identity" cultists.

Glad someone was calling it like I saw it.

I will refrain.

You get dirty and the pig likes it.

;)

I spoke with a friend, militant right wing Israeli-American, about how, according to whatever kook explanation de jour, just about everybody is Jewish except the Jewish people. He had never heard of such a thing. I told him “Yeah, when David Koresh read the Bible and it said “Jew” he read “Honky”, and where it said “Zion” he read “Waco Texas”.” He laughed his head off!

Kudos for citation of the DNA studies. It is amazing how little there was admixture into the Jewish people in exile for all that time (makes me think light skin of Ashkanazi might be much more from sexual selection than anything else, perception from the prevailing culture about what was ‘beautiful’).

And Arthur Koestler, the Hungarian Jew who wrote the book "The Thirteenth Tribe" and Shlomo Sand, professor of history at Tel Aviv University, who wrote the book "The Invention of the Jewish People".

Thank you for your reply. You have given me much to think about. Are they any specific scriptures that speak about the division of levels for Believers? I have always “believed” there were different levels or responsibilites for saints but never had any specific scriptures.
