The first, last and only warning a home intruder should receive is a face full of bright light as you are squeezing the trigger.

Relying on cycling a pump shotgun action to act as a deterrent is the height of foolishness. That means you've either been closing on the intruder with a weapon out of battery or you've dumped one of your limited rounds on the floor where it will do no good. Both actions that leave you at an extreme disadvantage in a firefight.

And that doesn't even get into the whole "leaving cover and exposing yourself to extreme danger while attempting to find the thug."

Once someone has entered your home, they have declared their willingness to do serious bodily harm to you, your only options are retreat, surrender or replying with immediate and overwhelming force.

75 posts so far and not one person has mentioned what the news is teaching those paying attention. The yutes doing crime are now getting into little groups. Whatever is used for home defense better have many rounds and some kind of back up weaponry. Me, I'm depending on 16 round .40 S&W hollow points to get to my assault weapon with hi-cap mags and or a Maverick 88 in 20ga with twenty extra on the bandolier sling.

The feral yutes are running in packs and herds. Need more ammo to stack a row of flesh up to slow down the survivors for careful targeting.
