The state prohibitions against silencers really piss me off. (Somebody was watching way too many spy movies. The prohibitions are federal as well. It was gangster movies, Alphonse Capone type gangsters plus Bonnie and Clyde type freelancers, that got the federal laws tightly controlling silencers, machine guns, and short barreled shotguns. The real gangsters were using such weapons, but they of course ignored the new laws anyway.

I think it needs to be said that it is not impossible (depending on where you live) to obtain silencers, more accurately called "suppressors", just expensive. I have suppressors for every metallic round I shoot, from 22LR all the way up to my .338LapuaMagnum, and I am seriously considering buying a .416Barret and a suppressor for it.
Now if it were only, possible to suppress a shotgun, hmmmmm....

Same goes with a taser. A taser is better than nothing for those folks who have made the decision not to have a firearm for home defense.
So the BG enters the house with an illegal/stolen firearm to face grandma with a cane at best.
Kind of wish grandma was allowed to possess a taser.
