I hate it when people try to push ahead of me when we are getting off the airplane. I make it a point to block them. The guy that grabbed his bags ahead of time probably triggered a territorial reflex in the flight attendant.
Possibly. However, the “flight attendant” is being paid to be polite, while the passengers are paying for the privilege of being abused at the airport by security personnel, and by dismissive flight attendants later on the plane. My sympathies are with the passengers.
