Either ratifying the Constitution was meaningful, or it was not. Either taking an oath to support the Constitution is meaningful, or it is not. Either Article VI of the Constitution is authoritative as to the relationship between federal and state government, or it is not.

You would have it that ratification, oaths, and the words of the Constitution have no meaning.

So much for that vaunted "Southern honor."
