Resist with all your might. Don’t ask management to assist in that process - lobby EVERYONE to vote no. Find out how much the dues is & tell EVERYONE who would be in the bargaining unit how much their salary will be reduced to pay that. Remind EVERYONE that the union only serves the union - not their constituents. Remind everyone that there is already a process to have their grievances heard via company policy. Remind everyone that unions are a creeping cancer on an organization - increasing costs which are past onto the consumer. Remind everyone that good performance isn’t rewarded under union contract - mediocrity is the rule.

Do all you can.

We had a UMW organizing attempt at the coal mine I managed in 1982. One of the foremen had put the moves on the woman who operated our truck scale and she complained.

I fired him and tried to make amends with her but it didn't slow things down.

It was a bitch of a time; we had to let the union guy move into our office and provide him employee contact, etc. It took six months to get rid of him.

Generally I don’t agree with all of that but you have it pretty close. The basic message is get out there and campaign. It sounds like you have been through it, like experience is speaking.
