At Paul’s wedding there was a bunch of Paul’s USMC buddies, both enlisted and officers, I made me want to shed a couple of decades and join up with ‘em.
America is blessed to have these young men ..

I have the official team picture of the freshman wrestling team from my son's freshman year in high school. Of course they are all skinny and gawky-looking. There are 4 boys together in the middle of the picture, 2 above, 2 lower. Of those 4, one went on to graduate early so he could join the USMC, one transferred to a different high school sophomore year. I stumbled on the picture after my son was in USMC. ALL FOUR became Marines within 2.5 years of graduation. It is not a school or neighborhood that sends very many to the military.

I met my hubby (Viet Nam era Marine) through USMC (long story), both of his sons also Marines, as was his father who served at Pelelieu. No military background to speak of in my family, but my father did his 3 years in the US Army.

The “excellence” of the Marine Corps is very humbling.
