Does the town you live in have a library? Most libraries participate in inter-library loan programs and can get you just about any book you want to read. It doesn’t have to be a large, institutional library.

here’s the kicker on the local libraries-in Burlington to be a member of Fletcher Free Library you have to submit statements such as tax bill,etc. for Burlington. I live in Burlington but rent,ergo........
UVM (univ of vermont) has the Bailey Howe Library which is for students only. I’ve done research there but cannot withdraw materials. many thanks for your suggestion!
