Your declaration of victory is whistling in the dark, as you must now that while there are those who suppose America was founded on the basis of hostility to religion, and that overall the founders supported the type and degree the ACLU supports, and others see them as mostly being evangelical Christians, and supporting a quasi theocracy, the truth is found between two extremes. The former can advance a few quotes to that effect, from the lest religious founders, and or usually of rejection of institutionalized Christianity - which is an enemy - while that the founder’s and government overall supported religion finds far more support. And in a quote war the former will be buried, and when i get back i shall attend tot hat if needed.
As to the Madison quote, it too is taken out of context. It's from a letter to William Bradford, April 1, 1774. It is about religious freedom in Virginia. Of interest here is Madison's characterization of the clergy of the Established Church, who use all their influence and connections to put down religious insurrection, thereby securing their livelihood.
Aside from the “war of the quotes,” the religious traditions of the peoples of the States who ratified the Constitution is what’s crucial- and this was decidedly Christian.
