Oh, dale, with my first car, the Volvo pregnant Volkswagon model, the gear shifter would just come off in my hand. I just figured what gear I was in and jammed that gear shifter where I thought it belonged. I never jammed it in reverse, though. Third or fourth gear.

And that was pretty close to where you live or lived then, Laguna Beach. Now it’s a freeway, but back then it was pretty much a dirt road to the beach.

I remember when going to Balboa was a 2 lane road and Knotts Berry Farm was exactly that, a strawberry farm and a roadside stand selling berries and jelly and jam.

As far as freeways, my father plastered the tunnels on the Passadena Freeway and I watched every other one of them being built, in fact when they built the Golden State Freeway it went right over our office and warehouse.

They wouldn’t give us anything for the mineral rights so I still have the mineral rights under the freeway.
