Dawn and Tawney were puzzled by the configuration of their belts, until Dawn realized that the saddle shape was supposed to fit just over the tail. Then the previously unseen hook on the belt looked strange as well. Tam showed them that their tails could be gracefully draped over that like a cowboys lariat. ("Cage" -- NnB)
