Sunday, one of the ladies in the women’s group was talking about a month-long visit to Seattle. She explained how it always rained and the skies were seldom clear, and yadda-yadda-yadda. I said, “That’s why they call themselves ‘Moss Backs.’”

Yah, native Washingtonians are called "mossbacks." Live here for a bit in mossland and you'll know why. It also refers to conservatives and may be considered derogatory, but I would take it as a compliment -- as in "I am not a lemming!"
