All good points. I've got to suspect, however, if she didn't truly excel on the SAT that the instrument isn't testing the right abilities. Her writing is creative and knowledge base is unbelievably broad for that age. Also hope that Obama doesn't conscript the CG for his own purposes, as has happened recently.

The SAT tests (among other things) test-taking aptitude. I’ve got the gift for it, but Anoreth doesn’t, although she toughed up for the ASVAB when it was really important to her. And she’s not motivated to learn math, much. She’s taking college algebra *again* during this cruise; if it goes well, she can take calculus next year and then be finished with college math.

Sally tells me the Young Marines were in our local parade, too. She admired their uniforms.

If your Madeline would like an age-appropriate Howya from Seaman Anoreth in far-off Singapore, let me know. She knows how to write for different audiences ;-).
