When my brother and sister-in-law came out mid-70’s to check out the area (company transfer) the trolleys weren’t running, but the BART was. We toured Alcatraz (as far as they would let us at the time. Seems Marlon and the Indians were not too long vacated.)
We went to Lazio’s on Fisherman’s Wharf (related to my cousins in San Diego) and because I’m not a fish-eater, I settled for a hamburger. My sister-in-law wanted to try calimari because it sounded musical to her ears. Then she was told what it was.
I don’t think I’d go back to the Bay Area for a lot of reasons. I spent many hours going to and from SFO, taking Igor or dropping him off, and I hated it then. I can’t imagine doing it now.
You’d have to work hard to get me to move back down there.
