No. A nuke is detonated away from the well and the sea floor shifts to fill the hole.

The sea floor here is not the same as the Russian sea floor and the people at the “Oil Drum” site (the experts) say it won’t work. In fact, with the kind of sea floor we have, it would make matters worse.

When they were detonated in the desert - which is nothing more than sand, it did not spread the sand, in fact, it left a layer of fused green glass.

Nobody knows what it will really do, but if we are consigned to simply watching ALL of the oil leak out into the Gulf, nuking it does not seem to be such a longshot. If it doesn't work, the oil leaks out as it did before. If it works, it stops leaking.

The radiation of the nuke is not really an issue. American nuclear technology is very advanced, way back in 1954 we miniaturized a nuke to be the size of a football and the detonation method simply changes the shape of the sub-critical mass from football shaped to round which goes critical and explodes in a 1 Kiloton blast.

That particular tactical nuke is known as the W-54 "Davy Crockett">

1950's US Nuclear Technology

The Davy Crockett is from 1954 (W54).
The scary thing is that Clinton/Gore gave W-80 (1980's) nuclear technology to the Chinese Commies. One of the worst acts of treason in American history.
