BSO deputy arrested for fraud and grand theft over insurance scheme
When all else fails, blame it on the babysitter. A Broward Sheriff's Office deputy is in trouble after he allegedly faked a car accident to get money back from a couple of concert tickets after his babysitter canceled on him at the last minute.
Shawn Barber, 43, is charged with insurance fraud and grand theft after filing false police reports in 2008. He is a 12-year veteran of BSO, but has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the trial. His former neighbor, Sharyn Iaboni, was also arrested for participating in the scam.
In March 2008, Iaboni bought four tickets for a Def Leppard concert at the Seminole Hard Rock and was ready to rock out when Barber's babysitter that was supposed to watch the kids rained on their parade.
So instead of eating the $630 it cost for the tickets, Barber had the novel idea of risking his job by filing a fake accident report, which would have triggered the tickets' insurance clause.
Now that's a real fan.
Barber got his money back, but now he has some handcuffs to go along with it. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years behind bars.
What a retard...
Paging Mr.DUMAS
The real crime would of been listening to Joe Elliot with his blown out vocal chords attempting to still sing live.
I saw a recent live video of them performing Rocket, and it sounded like an cat was being skinned.
Broward is something of a political and law enforcement cesspool.
I remember seeing the hair bands in the 80s when they were at the height of their popularity. Concert tickets were around $20 in Greensboro, NC.
Couldn’t he have scalped, er, resold the tickets?

I paid $12 (all my babysitting money) for a ticket to see Motley Crue in 1985 or ‘86 in Cedar Falls, IA. Front row! Too bad it was in front of Mick Mars. Ugh.
Was this a small private function for 500 people? You can hire the band for ~$170k plus travel expenses and venue fees when they’re not touring. (My sister looked into it for a function she was organizing).
Otherwise, this guy defines the term (in my best Mr.T voice) FOOL!
Those were great times.
I had 13th row for Def Leppard during the "Hysteria" concert at Alpine Valley (East Troy, WI). Saw them two more times after that throughout the years and they have always put on an excellent show and sound great. Never been disappointed seeing them in concert.
Saw Motley Crue three times, first two times were great, but the last time I was disappointed. Tommy Lee was acting like a big jerk on stage and I'm a huge Crue fan. They sounded horrible and the venue they played was too small so it was just loud and distorted. This was around when Tommy formed Methods of Mayhem and going through some kind of funk.
Ouch! That was a bummer.
It was. BUT, it was still awesome. :)
