Horsemanure! I have read SB 1070 in its entirety (it's not very long), and I have read comprehensive immigration reform proposals in their entirety as well. Immigration reform that rewards illegal behavior is stupid, and reading the bills makes that even more clear. Immigration enforcement that goes beyond a mindless "catch and release" is sensible, and SB 1070 is so obviously the right answer that it should be standard procedure in all law enforcement jurisdictions. How can it not make sense to fully identify a person stopped for lawful reasons before releasing them? How can it not make sense to take someone into custody if they turn out to be in our country illegally?

I am a big fan of legal immigration, although I would like to see sensible changes to our immigration laws that make it easier for immigrants whose presence benefits our country to come to America legally. I have no sympathy for criminals, and I'd like to see a federal law that permanently bars illegals caught in our country from any path to citizenship. There's nothing racist about enforcing the law - it's about national security. Unfortunately, your boy, McCain, isn't as big a fan of protecting our borders as I'd like. That's why I support his opponent and donate.

SB1070 merely enforces the already existing FEDERAL law that says.. oh gee.. that it is ILLEGAL to be here without going through proper channels.
