An animal rights' group is urging the Marlins to "think outside the tank" and "deep-six" plans to install salt-water aquariums containing live fish at the team's new Little Havana ballpark.
Instead, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, in a letter to Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, offered "cruelty-free alternatives" to the aquariums, which will serve as backstops and flank either side of home plate in the new stadium.
"Being exposed to the loud crowds, bright lights, and reverberations of a baseball stadium would be stressful and maddening for any large animals held captive in tanks that, to them, are like bathtubs," wrote PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman in the letter.
The Marlins, who unveiled the aquarium plans last week, said the see-through tanks would be constructed with the same material used in bullet-proof glass to ensure fish safety.

I say put some endangered species in them and make everybody shut up.
Not knowing what the plans for the stadium are I would say they must be something really cool to get PETA really tweaked.
You can see a slide show at the link provided. It should be a pretty cool ball park.

I agree with PETA on this one. (Let me go disinfect my brain.)
Seriously, though, this would look cool, but would be really bad for the fish.
Now having a saltwater tank that size in my living room would be much better (for the fish AND for me).
I don’t know (or care) a lot about fish, so I’ll go with the “look cool” over the poor fish. Could be worse - they could be out in the ocean about to be eaten by a bigger fish.
