Why the Far Left Hates Baseball (Why the Far Right Hates Soccer)

Or something like that. That headline certainly makes as much sense as this deranged PC-rant from National Progressive Radio by way of the ancient leftist publication The Nation: “Why the Far Right Hates Soccer,” by Dave Zirin. Just when you think the lunatic fringe can’t get any nuttier, along comes this:

Every World Cup, it arrives like clockwork. As sure as the ultimate soccer spectacle brings guaranteed adrenaline and agony to fans across the United States, it also drives the right-wing noise machine utterly insane.

Baseball is cool...Easy to watch...Things can be laid back, or even boring, then within minutes you can have bases loaded, double plays, grand slams, home runs etc..

A very cool American game.

Good points, especially the last zinger.
It will never succeed here no matter how hard it’s pushed,
for obvious reasons: we already have a major Industry
centering around PROFESSIONAL sports , which are all-consuming, and will never be penetrated by a ‘foreign invader’ like soccer. Beyond that, why it rankles me is that it looks like just another incursion by Globalism, and a fatuous one at that. I’m tired of all these people and really weary at having their dumbass customs and culture
forced down my throat.

***Why does EVERYTHING have to be politicized?***

To grab the attention of folks who have more interest in regional sports than more serious ISSUES.

Another tactic to divide & agitate.

Africans, Hispanics & Europeans love soccer - don’t know how that’s being strategized to cause dissent here in the USA - but it will.

I don’t see rodeos and bull-riding on your chart.

I have played,, I enjoyed driving the golf cart the most. Golf sucks. I'd much rather be fishing or at the rifle range.

I could have written that. Fishing is the number one sport in the U.S.A.

Those stupid bee-sound horns are reason enough for me to hate soccer. That and having games end in ties.

Well, I don’t watch soccer on TV because of those horns and the annoying announcers. And I’m a big sports fan.

My conservative son played soccer from first through ninth grades, and then he stuck with baseball. I loved watching youth soccer, even when the six year old kids ran the wrong way on the field. I also coached for a few years, and it was tremendous watching them develop confidence and skills. And yes, we kept score from the very beginning. The kids always know the score, anyway.

Enjoying youth soccer (in person) enabled me to appreciate youth basketball - the games have a lot in common. They have a pace and a pattern that can be very exciting. I’ve been to a couple of college and pro soccer games, and they’re enjoyable. I just won’t watch ‘em on TV.

My sport? Baseball. I love it. I also like football a lot, although I don’t know the rules as well. But seeing a well-executed play is a joy.

George Carlin: Baseball has no time limit. We don’t know when it’s gonna end! It might even go into...extra innings!...Football is rigidly timed and will end even if we have to go to SUDDEN DEATH....

Oh, that’s true! Did that for a couple of years - most often heard: “Was that a strike?” :)
