This isnt a job interview...and when people start correcting other peoples use of syntax in snide manner that’s a bit over the top IMHO...
It reeks of elitism and is of little use on FR.
He asked about his DUI issue...he didnt ask how to write a resume.
There are a lot of people on FR who have been giving each other pointers about finding jobs. It’s not elitist to point out that someone is making mistakes that can prevent him from getting an interview. I appreciate it when someone on this board makes suggestions about errors I might be making in the job-search process, and there’s nothing that suggests this poster was being anything other than helpful. Do you realize how many resumes are simply thrown in the trash because of elementary mistakes in spelling, punctuation, and grammar? Ask any hiring manager or job coach and he’ll tell you that incorrectly-spelled applications and resumes go straight in the trash.
You could take offense if these corrections were directed toward you, but clearly the original poster hasn’t complained.
Apparently you've never visited the religion forum here.
Was I being snide? I merely suggested that Moleman have someone proofread his resumé. And since then, Moleman has sent me two friendly private posts.
And I wasn't correcting his syntax (vulgo: sentence structure), but rather only his spelling and punctuation.
