I live in Texas now and I’m furious.
Nebraska did this for selfish financial reasons. Let’s toss out 100 years of history for an extra couple of bucks.
Wow.
I live in Kansas but was raised in Illinois and was educated at two Big Ten schools. And I think it sucks. Big time.
The problem with the 2 Kansas schools is they are good at the wrong sport; basketball is puny compared to the dollars football brings in.
Eh..the Big 12 was forced anyway, Nebraska was tired of following Texas around like a puppy dog. They already lost the Nebraska OU rivalry...so I’m not sure the history argument applies.
Texas wouldn’t budge on their TV demands.

It’s not just a couple of bucks, it’s a lot more. And it’s because of Texas. The B12 could have had a MUCH better TV deal, but Texas wanted to preserve their own pipe dream of a TexasTV network (much like Notre Dame’s), and because they insisted on playing every game in Texas (never mind the recruiting ramifications for the old B8,and because they took every chance to win every battle.
In truth the old corrupt Southwest conference was saved by the B8, only to turn around and poisen them much like they did to the old southwest conference. Well, Texas can give all that up and go be another school in the Pac10 now. Good luck and good riddance, let them poisen the Pac 10 now.
