A two-year bowl ban and a loss of more than 20 football scholarships are among the sanctions that the NCAA has dealt USC, a source with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday.

The NCAA, the governing body for collegiate sports, informed USC of its decision after a four-year investigation regarding allegations centered on former football player Reggie Bush and former basketball player O.J. Mayo. The NCAA could make its decision public as early as today.

USC officials would not confirm that the school had received the NCAA's report. Asked if USC had heard from the NCAA, Athletic Director Mike Garrett said: "We are looking at things right now. That's about all I can say."

SMU got caught for paying Eric Dickerson and Craig James as well as quite a few others. They were sought after by every major college and little ol’ SMU got them both. That raised a red flag. Once they were caught the NCAA slapped them pretty hard. But the governor, Bill Clements, said “We’ve got to honor our committments to these boys” so they went ahead and kept paying them. When they were caught the second time they got the death penalty.

And by the way, James is the reason Texas Tech fired the best coach they’ve ever had. His little boy got his feelings hurt. His son wasn’t good enough to play and Coach Leach was forced to sign him. He couldn’t play at a large high school in Dallas so daddy moved to a smaller area where he could play.

And I think Texas Tech will regret hiring Tuberville. Three runs up the middle then a cloud of dust.

Think about this. If Texas goes to the Pac-10, we’ll be watching games at 10 PM. (CDST)

Works for me. I won't have to get up early in the morning to put the brisket on, L~

They are just afraid that their Homecoming Queens would appear REALLY homely compared to the Baylor beauties.
